ABOUT COACH MATT
Matthew Saffran (Coach Matt) has a passion for many sports. He zoned in and played volleyball and basketball for his high school years. In his senior year he led his basketball team to Provincials. After the high school season concluded he finished off grade 12 playing for the top club team in Alberta, winning Alberta Club Provincials. He’s played with and has been coached by the best in Alberta. After his last club season he was in an accident which seriously damaged his left leg and hindered his ability to play basketball competitively. He has turned his love of the sport into coaching and mentoring youth. After coaching for Airdrie Minor Basketball association he developed his own basketball program, Peak Youth Athletics, running summer basketball camps and private training sessions for children and youth. He's currently head coaching the JV boys team at W.H Croxford High School, which they went undefeated in their 2022/23 regular season. He is adamant that a good athlete is a total athlete, which means confidence as well as physical strength, stamina, and good nutrition.
